Western Region Telecommunications Forum October 30, 2008

Over 100 key stakeholders within Melbourne's Western Region attended LeadWest's Telecommunications Forum on Thursday, 30th October. Federal Minister for Broadband, Communications & the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy was the keynote speaker along with Telstra's Group MD for Public Policy & Communications Mr. David Quality and Ms Judy Anderson from IBM A&NZ. The Forum was chaired by Ms Rosemary Sinclair from ATUG and included a panel from major developers in the west.

A major presentation was also made by Mr. Andrew Skewes, Director, Innovation & Technology Policy, DIIRD which outlined the State Governments committment to the provision of broadband. Click here for Mr. Skewes presentation>>>  

The Forum demonstrated that the development and deployment of a high speed national broadband network was seen as a basic pre requisite to support sustainable regional economic development as well as being needed to underpin the rapid advances taking place in the delivery of education and health services on line. LeadWest will continue to advocate on behalf of the Western Region for the provision of a high speed broadband network.
