Brimbank City Council
The City of Brimbank, the second largest municipality in metropolitan Melbourne, comprises the western suburbs between 10 and 20 kilometres west and northwest from the Melbourne City Centre. At the 2006 census, Brimbank had a population of 168,215. The population is estimated to increase to 206,713 by the year 2021. Brimbank prides itself on its cultural diversity. The 2006 Census figures indicate that 50.7%of residents in Brimbank were born overseas and around 52.3% speak a language other than English. Brimbank is a dynamic and rapidly growing city. It has thriving residential developments, particularly in the north-west areas of Sydenham and Taylors Lakes and the southern areas around Cairnlea and Derrimut. It also boasts strong industrial and commercial developments and offers a complete range of educational, recreational and community facilities. |

Maribyrnong City Council
The City of Maribyrnong, formed in 1994 from the merger of the City of Footscray and the City of Sunshine, comprises the inner western suburbs between 5 and 10 kilometres from the Melbourne city centre. At the 2006 Census, Maribyrnong had a population of 63,141. In the next two decades ahead, the population of Maribyrnong is expected to increase by 16,000. Maribyrnong has the second most ethnically diverse population in Victoria, with 40% of residents born outside Australia. Residents come from more than 135 different countries and speak over 80 languages. At 31.2 sq km in area, Maribyrnong is the smallest and most densely populated municipality in the metropolitan area. The area includes a large industrial sector. Changes in land use have resulted from the restructuring of local manufacturing industries and the relocation of the Commonwealth defence industries from the area. Melton Shire Council
The Shire of Melton is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia, offering the best in urban and rural lifestyles within a comfortable commuting distance from Melbourne. Encompassing a total land area of 527 square kilometres, Melton Shire includes the main urban centre of Melton, the growing western suburban spread of Melbourne in the Caroline Springs/Hillside area and several smaller townships, including Diggers Rest, Rockbank and Toolern Vale. Moonee Valley City Council
The City of Moonee Valley covers an area of 43km² just north of Melbourne City Center and includes the suburbs of Ascot Vale, Flemington, Travancore and Moonee Ponds in the South, Avondale Heights, Keilor East, Airport West, Niddrie, Essendon West and Essendon Fields (Moonee Valley’s newest suburb) in the West, and Strathmore, Strathmore Heights, Essendon, Essendon North and Aberfeldie in the centre. Approximately 109,000 call Moonee Valley home, and this figure is predicted to remain relatively stable over the next 20 years, with a forecast increase of only 9,000 people by 2028. Moonee Valley is well known for its streetscapes and historic buildings, the internationally renowned horseracing industry, its active community of sporting enthusiasts, and cultural facilities and events such as the Clocktower Theatre, Incinerator Arts Complex, Moonee Valley Festival, Arts Week and the largest youth festival in the country, YouthFest. |

Wyndham City Council
The City of Wyndham has experienced the largest and fastest growth in all Victorian local government areas and is the fourth fastest growing in Australia. Its estimated residential population is set to exceed 245,000 people by 2021. The City of Wyndham is large and diverse. Spanning 542 km2 on a coastal plain on the western fringe of Melbourne, Wyndham is home to a diversity of sectors: strong industrial and technology districts, two major retail precincts, intensive vegetable growing areas and grazing lands. The principal areas of population are Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, with substantial growth occurring in Tarneit, Point Cook, Truganina and Wyndham Vale.
Key tourism and open space attractions such as the Werribee Park Mansion, Victoria's Open Range Zoo at Werribee, the State Equestrian Centre, the Point Cook Homestead and the Point Cook RAAF Museum surround the expansive urban area.
