Tram Services

Melbourne's inner west and north-west is also served by some of Melbourne's distinctive tram services.

Tram Route 57 (City - West Maribyrnong) runs from the corner of Flinders Street and Elizabeth Street in Melbourne's city centre to West Maribyrnong in the inner western suburbs, travelling through Newmarket, Flemington and Ascot Vale. It terminates at the corner of Cordite Avenue and Central Park Avenue in Maribyrnong, adjacent to the 128 hectare Maribyrnong Defence Site which is set to be developed by VicUrban into a masterplanned suburb for 3,000 residences.

Tram Route 59 (City - Airport West) runs from the corner of Flinders Street and Elizabeth Street in Melbourne's city centre to Airport West in the north western suburbs, travelling through Parkville, then Mount Alexander Road through Flemington, Ascot Vale and Moonee Ponds, Pascoe Vale Road through Moonee Ponds and Essendon, on to Mount Alexander Road in Essendon, then Keilor Road through Essendon North and Niddrie. It terminates near Westfield Airport West, close to the Essendon Airport.

Tram Route 82 (Moonee Ponds - Footscray) runs from the Moonee Ponds Junction at the corner of Ascot Vale Road and Puckle Street, along Maribyrnong Road and Raleigh Road, up the Wests Road tram reserve to Williamson Road, past Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong and on to Gordon Street, past Edgewater Square and on to Ballarat Road near the Western Hospital. It then runs down Droop Street, crossing Geelong Road into Footscray and terminates at the corner of Leeds and Irving Streets near Footscray Market and the Footscray railway station. Tram Route 82 is one of the last surviving routes from the Footscray tram network and is one of Melbourne's very few tram routes which does not travel through the Melbourne CBD.
