Werribee River Nature Link Enhancements
The Werribee River Nature Link Enhancements sub-project of the Greening the West of Melbourne (One Million Trees) Project will establish and manage 200,000 mixed native species plantings by the end of June 2017 at locations within the Werribee River Nature Link (as identified in the Regional Catchment Strategy), including specific focus on sites where Green Army projects will be implemented within Wyndham.
Initially focused on provision of plants that support approved Green Army projects at Werribee River Park, this sub-project will also involve planting at sites that extend and enhance the initial Green Army projects and prior works undertaken by land managers, Landcare groups and/or “Friends of” groups.
Sites, as identified in the Werribee River Biolink Action Plan, follow the Werribee River Shared Trail through to the border between the City of Wyndham and the City of Melton.
Sub-project outcomes will support achievement of goals within the Regional Catchment Strategy, Werribee Biolink Action Plan, Werribee River Park Master Plan, council master plans for other relevant parks and reserves, and the Greening the West strategy.
