Mercy Health is a Catholic organisation grounded in a 2,000-year tradition of caring for others. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Health employs over 6,000 people in Australia who provide acute and subacute hospital care, aged care, mental health programs, maternity and specialist women’s health services, early parenting services, home care services and health worker training and development. Mercy Health employs people from many cultures and backgrounds who, irrespective of their beliefs, share a common bond to care for those in need.
Mercy Health serves communities in Melbourne's west. Werribee Mercy Hospital opened in 1994 and is a community hospital providing surgical, medical, maternity, newborn, renal dialysis, emergency, mental health, rehabilitation, aged and palliative care services in Melbourne’s south-west southwest of Melbourne. The hospital also provides a range of home-based support services including Hospital in the Home, Midwifery in the Home and a Neonatal Transition Service. The Transition Care Program offers rehabilitation and supportive care for older people after a stay in hospital.
Attached to the Werribee Mercy Hospital, the new Catherine McCauley Centre offers sub acute care to the Wyndham and surrounding communities. It includes the Continuing Care Centre, combining the Community Rehabilitation Centre, Complex Care Program, Residential In-Reach and two sub acute ambulatory specialist clinics: Falls, Balance and Continence. It also offers 30 geriatric evaluation and management and rehabilitation inpatient beds and therapy spaces.
Mercy Mental Health includes two modern well-equipped clinics providing a range of psychiatric services: one called Saltwater Clinic on Nicolson Street in Footscray, and the other called Mercy Mental Health Wyndham on Warringa Crescent in Hoppers Crossing.
