--- Federation University Australia

LeadWest has two types of members: (1) the councils of Melbourne’s west; and (2) other organisations that operate in Melbourne's west.

Federation University Australia became an 'other member' of LeadWest in December 2013 and ended its membership in June 2015. It applied and was re-admitted to the membership in February 2017.

Federation University Australia is the result of an exciting collaboration between the University of Ballarat and Monash University’s Gippsland Campus. It is the only regional university in Victoria providing higher education, technical and vocational programs as well as significant research opportunities.

FedUni provides several hundred programs across many fields of study including business and commerce, human and community services, the visual and performing arts, mathematics, information technology, engineering, nursing, paramedicine, midwifery, biomedical sciences, criminology, food sciences, teacher education, behavioural and social sciences, humanities, human movement, sport sciences, the various trades and in manufacturing services.

To enhance its range of research activities, FedUni hosts a number of research centres and has collaborative arrangements for research with a number of Australian and overseas universities. Both the Mt Helen and Gippsland campuses host innovative Technology Parks.

The Higher Education Portfolio is very active in research and we encourage application from prospective students to enter into our postgraduate research programs. Students may undertake either Masters or Doctoral training in a number of disciplines.

FedUni has a Gippsland Campus that offers a range of exciting programs for regional students. Located within easy walking distance of the town of Churchill, a bus ride from Morwell and Traralgon and only two hours south-east of Melbourne, the Gippsland Campus offers the benefits of a regional lifestyle with city access.
