Mr Bob Fairclough OAM

LeadWest's Board has two types of Director: Participating Council Nominated Directors and Elected Directors.

Cr Bob Fairclough OAM was a Participating Council Nominated Director. He also served as a member of LeadWest's Human Resources Committee. 

Cr Fairclough was first nominated by Wyndham City Council and his first term commenced at LeadWest's Annual General Meeting in November 2012.  He was re-nominated by Wyndham City Council to serve a second term of two-years from November 2014. He served that second term until retirement from Wyndham City Council before the 2016 council elections.

Since arriving in Wyndham from New Zealand in 1984, Bob Fairclough had been actively involved in the development a long term strategic plan for Wyndham's community and has strongly supported advocacy campaigns to both state and federal governments seeking additional support for services and facilities for families, children, young people and senior citizens in Melbourne's west.

He was first elected to Wyndham City Council in December 2008 and was Wyndham City's Mayor in 2013/14. 

As a member of Wyndham City Council, Cr Fairclough's special interests included:

  • improving infrastructure and social services
  • advocating for additional educational opportunities
  • the impact of pollution on the environmental,
  • supporting programs to assist people with chronic diseases
  • improving safety through more police
  • increasing tourism in Wyndham

He was committed to working hard for the community to improve the infrastructure needs, community services and facilities with the aim to making Wyndham the most liveable city in Victoria.

He was also an adjunct Professor in the Department of Innovation and Sustainability at Victoria University.

Cr Fairclough was awarded the Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia for service to the community of the Werribee region, and to education.
