Mr Barry Harvey AM
Mr Barry Harvey AM, was the Chair of LeadWest's Board of Directors from 2011 to 2016.
Mr Harvey was initially elected as the Chair of LeadWest's Board of Directors at LeadWest's Annual General Meeting on 11 November 2011 to serve for a two-year term. Mr Harvey was re-elected at LeadWest's Annual General Meeting on 13 November 2013 to serve for a second two-year term. LeadWest's Constitution allows for a person to serve as Chair of LeadWest's Board of Directors for a maximum of two consecutive terms.
Mr Harvey was founder and then Managing Director of Austco Polar Enterprises, one of the largest cold storage logistics operations in Melbourne and based in Laverton. Originally a butcher by trade, he is nationally recognised as one of the foremost experts in meat refrigeration and also pork processing. He now serves on the board of Tibaldi.
Mr Harvey is also currently the Chair of WynBay LLEN, a COAG initiative under the National Partnership on Youth Attainment & Transition agreement. He has been Chair of WynBay LLEN since 2001 and in that time the LLEN has helped broker positive outcomes for thousands of young people in Wyndham and Hobsons Bay.
Mr Harvey has a long track record of service to the communities of Melbourne's west. He was a member of the Western Melbourne Regional Development Australia Committee and is the former Chair of the Wyndham Industrial Liaison Development Committee. He was closely involved in the development of the New Geelong Freeway and the Mambourin Sensory Gardens for children with a disability.
