Brooklyn Industrial Precinct

The Brooklyn Industrial Precinct is a triangle shape to the north of Geelong Road, south of Somerville Road and east of Kororoit Creek.

It is used by more than 60 industries, including quarrying, former landfill, abattoirs, material recycling, tallow producers, container storage, as well as numerous small businesses from light industrial to retail and manufacturing.

The environmental health and livability for the residents surrounding the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct is a regional priority.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA Victoria) hosts the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct website, which provides a one-stop shop for information about improvements to the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct.

Toward a Better Brooklyn Precinct

The Department of Planning and Community Development has recently partnered with Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong councils to fund a business profile survey called ViCLUE (Census of Land Use and Employment).

The survey will commence with examination of businesses located in the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct and the adjacent Tottenham area.

The three councils and the Department recognise that Brooklyn/Tottenham is a strategically important area, of local, metropolitan and state significance, and are committed to pursuing longer term objectives and strategies for the precinct.

Concurrently, Brimbank City Council has engaged Meinhardt Consulting to provide a series of supporting studies for the development of a precinct plan for the next 10-30 years in the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct. The project will look at land use, traffic, contamination, economic development and urban design issues. The ViCLUE business survey will be utilised for the economic part of the study.
